Permeation grouting

Soil grouting (alluvium)

In granular soils, a sleeved grout pipe (tube à manchettes or TAM) is generally used to inject a stable grout (clay/cement, gel, colloidal solution) in short (30-50cm) stages with a double packer.

Grout is pumped in at low pressure and flow rate so that it permeates through the ground without causing hydraulic fracturing. Unlike the situation when grouting rock, grout quantities can be calculated beforehand with reasonable accuracy on the basis of the void ratio of the soil.
