The city of Algiers is expanding greatly, and this is reflected by its automotive traffic. In 2003 the city council took the decision to equip the Chevalley area, which contains one of the largest intersections in Algiers, with underpasses.

Project performance was awarded to the consortium formed by Hydro Technique and Soletanche Bachy. This is a sensitive project that is being watched very attentively by the President's Office and the Ministry of Public Works.
