April 28, 2009 - Two deep shafts in Mexico | |
CIMESA, our Mexican subsidiary, is constructing two deep shafts as part of the TEO (Tunel Emisor Oriente/Eastern Relief Sewer Tunnel) project. This project consists in the construction of a relief sewer in Mexico City. This deep relief sewer measuring over 60 km in length will be tunnelled at depths of up to 150 m below the surface. The two shafts (shaft 10 and shaft 13) to be sunk will have a diameter of 20 m. The first 45 m will be constructed using 1000 mm thick diaphragm walls and the remainder of the shafts will be constructed using traditional methods (ribbed supports and shotcrete lining) down to a depth of 77 m and 92 m. |
