April 29, 2009 - Wolf Creek Dam, Kentucky, USA

The working platform is currently being extended by increasing the current embankment by 5 m along the 1,200 m length of the new wall. Work on the guide walls commenced using a clever sliding formwork solution. Three sets of this formwork are currently being deployed for this project.

The installation area is beginning to take shape with slurry storage tanks, the sand separation unit and a spoil disposal pit. The ground monitoring instrumentation system comprising piezometers and inclinometers had already been put in place during January and February. Exploratory drilling and grouting works have just begun on site at the backfill and rock interface to a depth of 50 m.
